With Polish Justyna Kowalczyk winning the women's classification ahead of Norwegian Marit Bjorgen, and Dario Cologna from Switzerland winning the men's class and Norwegian Petter Northug finishing third, "our" racers made a mark at this year's competition.
Favorite Cologna dominated among the men, and beat Swedish Marcus Hellner and Norwegian Petter Northug to win the Tour de Ski for the third time. Northug finished on the podium for the fourth straight time, but is still without a win in the prestigious competition. Both Cologna and Northug compete on the Rottefella Xcelerator binding.
In the ladies classification, Polish Kowalczyk completed her hat-trick, winning for the third straight year. Although Bjorgen made an early attempt to take the lead, Kowalczyk made a move on the final ascent, beating the Norwegian by half a minute. Kowalczyk and Bjorgen are both racing on the Rottefella Xcelerator.
We congratulate Dario, Justyna, Petter and Marit with an excellent effort in the Tour de Ski.
The FIS Cross Country World Cup continues next weekend in Milan.
